Fedora-apac trac, “the support, when it is needed”

Just though of organize some of the facts about the effective usage of regional tracs for Fedora Ambassadors. This is just a collection of facts in one place and not an official announcement.

In APAC region we are on the process of moving fedora-india[1] into fedora-apac[2] trac to make things more organized. Maintaining two tracs in a region is quite cumbersome and FAms will not be benefited/ supported effectively.  As a result long rounds of discussions[3] took place. Finally it was agreed to make the india-trac read only and include info on the header/ footer noticing to use the fedora-apac trac.

In few days the fedora-india trac will be made read-only. Therefore each and every requests should be reported to the fedora-apac trac. Create a new ticket on fedora-apac trac if you need support.

On fedora-india trac there are 5 active tickets. Two tickets were closed since there is no activity/ update from 8 months. One ticket was closed by the reporter as the ticket is being taken care of. However there are two tickets waiting for an action. If the reporters are still willing to continue those requests they can create a new ticket on fedora-apac so that it is possible to support those requests.

With effect of the transition if any Fedora Ambassador who is in APAC region needs any funding, swags or any other support he/she should create a ticket on fedora-apac trac. The ticket will be discussed at the next FAm meeting. Since we are having meetings bi-weekly in APAC region the maximum waiting period will be 14 days. We believe this process will be more effective as Fedora ambassadors are getting the support when it is needed.

Please be informed about the reimbursement guideline[4] before making any budget-request.

In short,

First create an event page on fedora wiki with all the required info in it. Following information are very important

  • Date and the time
  • Location
  • Budget break down/ swags amounts
Add your event page to the Fedora events[5].

Then create a new ticket on the fedora-apac trac, please do note the requested amount of money in USD (United Stated Dollars) and in local currency as well. Since we are a globally spread community exchange rate matters. Please refer to http://www.oanda.com/currency/converter/ for all calculations. Red Hat finance is using oanda.com as the reference.

Please participate to the next APAC Bi-weekly meeting[6], so that we can discuss your need.

participating to the next APAC Bi-weekly meeting is important since it is not possible to discuss about your need with out the reporter or any representation.

Once the request will be approved make the payment and produce receipts for the reimbursement.  All the receipts should be uploaded to the ticket and Harish will make sure that you receive the money you spend. Bare mind no receipts no reimbursements.

So far we are able to facilitate requests from regional ambassadors effectively, we believe we can keep it up.
