Fedora Event – Rajarata University

on December 20, 2011

Faculty of Applied Sciences, Rajarata University, Fedora event was the first event happened soon Fedora 16 media production finished.

First time I was about to travel more than 150km for a FOSS event. Event started at 12:30 pm and I was able to reach the venue around 11:30 pm.

The dean of the faculty welcomed us with a speech with stressing the importance of such events for IT students.

The first session was an Introduction to FOSS/ Linux/ Fedora delivered by Buddhike Kurera (me). the next session, Hasitha Jayasooriya demonstrated the F16 new features. Some important aspects of Bash Shell and Bash Scripting were discussed as the third topic by me. Uditha, who joined as a Fedora Ambassador recently deliver a practicle session about LAMP on Fedora after the refreshments. The event concluded with a session on “How to join with f.po / Importance”.

It was around 7:00, we leave the venue and I was able to reach home around 2:00 am. It was a great experieince to me since that was my first visit to Rajarata University. I would like to thank the Association of Rajarata infomation and Communication Technology society (ARICT) members, staff for organizing and letting us the opportunity.
