SLIIT Kandy – FOSS Event 2011

Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology commonly abbreviated as SLIIT is an ICT academic institution in Sri Lanka. An event to spread Free and Open Source Software was held at the Kandy branch of SLIIT on 27th October 2011. I was invited as the speaker and the event last for about 3 hours from 1300 hrs.

The main intention of the event was to introduce FOSS and Linux to the students. Following were the content discussed.

    Introduction to Free and Open Source Software
    Software Freedom Day Celebrations
    Fedora Project Introduction and How to Join
    Other Sri Lankan FOSS Communities and Projects

Fedora 15 DVDs are distributed among the participants and there were around 30 students.
