Installing Google-Chrome in Fedora

Installing google chrome on Fedora is easy. However you cannot find it on the repositary therefore as soon you install Fedora OS you cannot install Google Chrome just using yum install command.

The easiest way to install Google Chrome is to download the .rpm package from their web site and install it.

However if you wish to follow the command line method you have to use the Googles’ yum repository.

Steps :

create a new configuration for the Googles’ yum repository under /etc/yum.repos.d/ and name it google.repo

Add following configuration details to the file

32 bit
[google-chrome]
name=google-chrome - 32-bit
baseurl=http://dl.google.com/linux/chrome/rpm/stable/i386
enabled=1
gpgcheck=1
gpgkey=https://dl-ssl.google.com/linux/linux_signing_key.pub

64 bit
[google-chrome]
name=google-chrome - 32-bit
baseurl=http://dl.google.com/linux/chrome/rpm/stable/i386
enabled=1
gpgcheck=1
gpgkey=https://dl-ssl.google.com/linux/linux_signing_key.pub

Then use the following command to install the browser,

yum install google-chrome-stable
